Naver said its AI product, named HyperCLOVA X, will provide generative AI-driven searches for users as well as new customised services for enterprise clients. Naver has said it is jointly developing with Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) new chip solutions that will be smaller and more efficient to support its AI technology development. The company plans to open a new data centre for the HyperCLOVA X services in November, Naver said on Thursday. "We are ready to face a new transformation called generative AI," Naver Chief Executive Choi Soo-yeon said. Choi said the company was in talks with global partners about its new AI services' overseas expansion but it was not ready to identify those partners.

Seoul, South Korea Reuters —An android robot, EveR 6, took the conductor’s podium in Seoul on Friday evening to lead a performance by South Korea’s national orchestra, marking the first such attempt in the country. The two-armed robot, designed by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, made its debut at the National Theater of Korea, leading musicians in the country’s national orchestra. “Movements by a conductor are very detailed,” Choi Soo-yeoul, who led Friday’s performance alongside the robot, said. “The robot was able to present such detailed moves much better than I had imagined.”EveR 6 is seen on a screen alongside human conductor Choi Soo-yeoul. SEOUL, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Shares in South Korea's Kakao Corp (035720.KS) plunged more than 9% on Monday after a fire at a data centre south of Seoul damaged servers on the weekend, causing an extensive service outage in the country's main chat app. President Yoon Suk-yeol said on Monday that Kakao's services are "like a fundamental national telecommunications network as far as the public is concerned," and follow-up measures over the service outage will be pursued. Kakao shares fell to its lowest since May 2020, while shares in Kakao affiliates KakaoPay (377300.KS) and KakaoBank (323410.KS) also plunged more than 8% in morning trade. A Kakao spokesperson told Reuters on Monday services such as messaging have been restored, but miscellaneous services are still being restored. Kakao said on Monday the financial effects of a widespread service outage were expected to be limited on Kakao and its key units.
